Convergence Metric
Every student self-assesses on the same 1–4 scale their instructor uses. Profectus tracks the delta — the gap between self-perception and demonstrated performance — over time, for every student, across every standard.
Competency-based student information software built specifically for Career and Technical Education. Not a general SIS with CTE modules bolted on. CTE-native from the ground up.
What Profectus Is
Most classroom platforms were built for comprehensive high schools and adapted for CTE. Profectus was built for CTE programs from the start — which means external grades from articulation agreements, project-based assessment with inspection milestones, and the scheduling flexibility your program actually uses are structural, not bolted on.
The same is true of the grading model. Standards-based assessment isn't a display mode here — it's enforced by the data model. Unscored standards are not zeros. Scores don't average across attempts. A student's standing reflects what they've most recently demonstrated, not the mean of everything that came before.
Why Profectus
Every student self-assesses on the same 1–4 scale their instructor uses. Profectus tracks the delta — the gap between self-perception and demonstrated performance — over time, for every student, across every standard.
Standards-based grading isn't a display mode — it's architectural. Unscored standards are not zeros. Scores don't average across attempts. The most recent demonstrated proficiency is what counts, always. The platform enforces these commitments at the data layer, not the UI layer.
OpenDyslexic, Atkinson Hyperlegible, Lexend. Font size scaling. Colorblind mode with icons, not just colors. Browser-native text-to-speech on long-form content. Spanish UI out of the box. None of it gated by admin approval or plan tier.
The Proficiency Model
A student's standing on any standard is determined by their most recent demonstration — not an average of past attempts. A student who scored 1 and then retook to a 4 is at proficiency 4. Not 2.5.
Unscored standards are simply unscored. They are not zeros. They do not factor into averages. They do not punish students for what hasn't been taught yet.
Scores reflect skill development on a 1–4 scale, not letter grades.
Platform Features
Student list with live stats: attendance %, average score, self-assessment delta. Session filter. Search by name or username. Drill into any student instantly.
The full CTE attendance status set — internship and co-op, half-day presence, session-specific records — built in. Inline reason display. QTD and YTD absence counters per student. Session-scoped for any scheduling model.
Domain-grouped competency view. Score buttons 1–4. Three assessment types: formative, diagnostic, summative. Diagnostic auto-promotes to summative at ≥3. Score history graph per standard per student.
When a student scores below proficiency on a summative, a structured remediation loop activates. Resource review, reflection, instructor sign-off — before the retake happens. Infinite attempts. No automatic grade cap. Every attempt logged.
Configurable thresholds per admin: attendance %, average score, reteach %. Reteach shown as percentage, not raw count. Clickable panel shows flagged students with industry-standard citations for Perkins V.
Six-status pipeline: assigned → in progress → ready to submit → submitted → graded → completed. 8-hour feedback hold. Multi-student group projects with individual scoring. Student-controlled portfolio inclusion.
Counselors, SpEd consultants, NTHS advisors — assigned to specific programs, read-only access. Student drill-down with scores, attendance, external grades, and learner behavior. Read-only enforced at the API layer.
Non-dismissible password change on first login. No ESC, no click-outside, nav disabled. Password reset revokes all active sessions immediately — not after a 12-hour JWT window.
A generated summary of all standards demonstrated at Proficient or higher, with selected portfolio items. Designed to be shown to an employer, apprenticeship program, or articulation partner.
Compliance & Security
When the deputy superintendent asks about data governance, Profectus has an answer for every question — not a slide deck, not a promise. Architecture-level answers.
DPSP template, Parents' Bill of Rights, signable DPA based on NDPA standard. 72-hour breach notification SLA.
No PII in log entries. Student IDs only. 7-year audit log retention. Admin-initiated single-student data export on request.
Separate database per district available, or shared infrastructure with Postgres Row-Level Security enforced at the database layer — a bug that forgets a WHERE clause doesn't leak data.
All PII purged within 30 days of contract termination. Soft delete with 30-day recovery. Hard delete audited and verified.
"Every action in the system is logged here — who, what, when, and from where. That's your §2-d answer."
What the demo sounds like
The standard 9-step demo sequence
The demo runs in about 45 minutes and covers all nine steps of the standard sequence. Bring your principal, your AP, your instructional support director, and your district IT contact. All their questions have architecture-level answers.
